The Bride Raffle (Harlequin Historical) ReviewIf you don't want to know the pluses and drawbacks to a story do not read reviews. Read the book and form your own opinion first then write your own review. With that said--RT rated this book with 3 stars out of 4 ½ indicating it's a so-so story. The RT reviewer commented that the story was unrealistic. I have to agree. It's really hard to convince a woman reader today (especially a woman who's carried a baby full term) to believe that a heroine doesn't recognize or believe she's pregnant even when the hero does. If the reader can recognize all of Daisy's pregnancy symptoms shown in this story, Daisy would as well. I found her to be a rather weak character. As for the writing, I didn't find it to be too objectionable. But the story itself was rather dull. The characters had more inner thoughts than actual conversations. What conflict there was had low impact. The references to Owen's so-called scandalous past was not very clear. Other than knowing who knocked Daisy up, her book tour and that she has a brother living in Morrow Creek, her past was just as vague making her less dimensional like him. A typical fluff story. Like many of Lisa Plumley stories, it starts out promising but eventually flatlines. The Bride Raffle (Harlequin Historical) Overview
