Too Hot for TV (Dafina Contemporary Romance) ReviewOverall I enjoyed this book. I have read just about all the books that Cheris Hodges have written, and this I feel is a different style for her. The hero Raymond Thomas is a doctor of a free clinic in Harlem with mezmorizing green eyes and good looks that will take your breath away. The heroine is a would be actress Imani Gilliam with lot's of real talent and beautiful good looks who's career at this time is in the tiolet and getting ready to be flushed away for doing a sorry role in a movie that bombed big time and now no one is calling at all.
In comes a opportunity to appear on a reality show called "Let's Get Married"
Both were swindled into the show by either a partner or agent who felt that it would help get donors to give financial support and also publicity to the failing clinic and help it get out of the red or getting a boost to her almost dead acting career it will put both in the limelight for better things to come. Even though neither wanted to do the show they both agreed that it just might work. They enter the contest with their own private agendas.
The problem being after a chance meeting on the streets of manhattan, and Ray practically saving Imani's life, the wheels were already churning. Neither knew really that the other was going to be on the show, but when they both meet at the airport in Hawaii they notice each other basically right away. A small simmers starts looking like it's going to explode into a large flame. This was not missed on the producer who is also trying to ignite her career with this show at any cost. She wants even though the TV veiwing audience is suppose to vote for the 2 people to be matched together Tres (the producer)decides that Ray and Imani would be the stars of the show, unbenounced to them thanks to Elliot (Tres's assistant)filling them in that a camera will be on them exclusively at all times, (even though there are eleven other couples that will get limited camera exposer) on them to catch their fights, the heat that may boil between them, and what ever else that comes her way, also she decides that another contestant Lucy (because she showed an strong interest in Ray)will be the bee in the honey to cause conflict between the two love birds, reality show she felt at it's best.
They both did hit it all off but Ray didn't know when Imani was acting or being for real,one minute she was hot the next she was cold and he had to find out why. He also had in his mind that she would be high maintenance and on the meager salary that he made was not like a Dr in private practice which steered many woman away even with his good looks. The big deal happens when Ray has an urgent situation that he has to deal with. Will Imani put her career ahead of the feelings that by now they have expressed to each other? The reality of it is in the end will love conquer all? And for Imani she learn that you should be careful what you want and ask for, because when you get it even though her career did kick off,the media and the veiwing audience followed them to the fact that they couldn't have a moments piece. I'm not going to go into depth about the coming and going of their relationship because I don't want to give it away. But the herione does carry a secret that is very new and fresh for Cheris Hodges,it takes a while to get to the intimacy with these two, but when you get there all I can say is it's HOT!HOT HOT!!!!!!
I would recommend this book for any Cheris Hodges fan such as myself you will not be disappointed. Hopefully we will get a sequel for Dana, hint hint hint(Imani's best friend) But not before you finish Alicia's book :-). Overall a really good read.
