Frommer's Spain Day by Day (Frommer's Day by Day - Full Size) ReviewAs a quick background, I like to travel and have used many guidebooks. I thought this guidebook was worth a try in that basically it consolidates the entire country into 1 day, 3 day or 5 days or more excursions by city or region. I have found this style of guidebook to be both useful and cumbersome in that sometimes, they give you a taste of the whole city and you feel satisfied. However, sometimes they pack too much into the days and you feel overwhelmed and exhausted. I have found the best way to use these types of guidebooks by actually picking and choosing certain spots in each given day so as to not feel overwhelmed. It is still nice that if you have extra time you can do more of the "places to see" during that day.
Specifically, with regards to this guidebook for Spain, I thought the sections on Madrid and Barcelona were great. I have been to Madrid and Barcelona a number of times and the 1 - 5 day guides for each city seem quite doable and not overwhelming. I would have to say that some of the other cities are a bit underwhelming but overall I would recommend this book to people that don't necessarily like to take chances and just explore a city. This guide literally walks you step by step each day and what to see at each location.
